Sea trial

A free weekend at sea

One weekend, free to everyone. Trade your way up from a single hull, gather your crew — four captains sail in company — and come and find the Pirate Lord.

A word from TLP

Come and find me

Build up your fleet. Everyone starts from a single ship, so you will have to trade, explore and outsmart the rest to grow into something worth the name.

Then gather your friends and set your course for the Caribbean. That is where you will find me, running a fleet of my own — and I do not intend to be gentle about it. Don't turn up in one small sloop and expect to live.

What it is

A stress test, run in the open

The point of the weekend is load — real captains at sea at the same time, doing things no test plan thought of. That is the one thing a small team cannot fake on its own machines.

So expect rough edges. Finding them is the job, and the dev log will carry what the weekend turns up.

  • Free

    No purchase

Nothing to buy and nothing to pre-order. The trial is free for the weekend it runs, and that is the whole arrangement.

  • Sail in company

    Landed

Four captains to a company: one shared ocean and one economy, a synced sea clock and weather, captain-to-captain barter at sea, Five-Card Draw at the inn — and shared battles, so captains can fight the same enemy together.

  • Start from nothing

    Bring time

You begin with a single hull and an empty purse. Trading that up into a fleet is the weekend's work — and the Caribbean is where it gets settled.

Before you set out

When it runs, and what you're getting

When?

The first weekend after Steam approves the build.

Project Seaborne is uploaded to Steam and waiting on the green light. That is Steam's timetable rather than ours, so there is no date on this page yet — approval could come in a day or take a fortnight, and the weekend follows it.

The word goes out on the Discord the hour it opens, and that is where the date will appear first. A date will only be printed here once it is certain.

Being on Steam is not the same as being finished. This is a stress test of a build in development, not a release. Project Seaborne is targeting late 2026 into early 2027 — a target rather than a promise, kept honest on the Status page.

Come aboard

The Discord is where the work happens in the open — build progress, screenshots, the things that broke, and the first call when there's something worth sailing. Come and say hello.
